Welcome to Pow Camp — Your Quiet Corner of the Pearl River

Nestled along the slow-moving waters of the Pearl River, Pow Camp Recreation Area is a place to slow down, breathe deep, and remember what it means to be truly away from it all.

A Place That Has Welcome You Since Before the Maps Were Drawn

Pow Camp Recreation Area sits on land that has drawn visitors for generations — a stretch of the Pearl River where the water runs clear, the pines stand tall, and the silence feels like a gift.

What began as a simple gathering spot for families seeking respite from the heat and hurry of coastal life has grown into a beloved Mississippi destination. Our cabins and campsites are kept simple on purpose: the point isn't luxury, it's presence. Here, the morning sounds are herons taking flight and the evening ones are cicadas winding down.

Thoughtful Amenities for an Unhurried Stay

Everything you need to settle in and make the most of the river, the woods, and each other — nothing more, nothing less.

Rustic Cabins

Clean, comfortable cabins with screened porches and river views — the kind of place where sleep comes easy and mornings arrive slowly.

Campground Sites

Spots for tents and RVs shaded by oaks and pines, with convenient access to clean restrooms and potable water throughout the grounds.

Fishing & Boating

Cast a line from the bank or launch a canoe into the Pearl River — bass, crappie, and catfish are regular visitors to these waters.

Hiking Trails

Wander marked trails through hardwood hammocks and along bluffs that overlook the river — a different view around every bend.

Group Gatherings

Family reunions, church retreats, fishing tournaments — Pow Camp has the space and the spirit to host your next meaningful get-together.

Peace & Quiet

No neon signs, no traffic, no rush. Just the sound of water moving over stones and the kind of darkness that makes the stars look close enough to touch.

More Than a Place to Stay —
A Way to Remember What Matters

Pow Camp isn't about checking boxes. It's about the slow unfold of a day spent exactly where you're supposed to be.

Wake to the River

There's no alarm clock here. The sun finds you through the pines, and the river does the rest — a low, steady murmur that tells you everything will be all right.

Make Room for Each Other

Phones stay in pockets. Conversations run long. The kind of time together that doesn't show up in photographs but stays with you for years.

Nights That Stretch

Fire crackles, crickets take up the rhythm, and the sky opens up in a way you didn't know was possible. Sleep comes like a gift you didn't ask for but deeply needed.

Find Your Own Pace

Whether you're tracking fish along the bank, wandering the trails, or simply sitting on the porch with a cup of coffee — the day belongs to you.

Words From People Who've Been Here

These are the reflections of visitors who came seeking a break and left with something harder to put into words.

We came for a long weekend and left with a new understanding of what a vacation can actually be. No rushing, no lists — just the river and each other. We're already planning to come back.

Family retreat, Spring 2025

I've brought fishing groups here for years. The Pearl River never disappoints, and Pow Camp has that rare combination of solitude and community — you're alone, but you're never by yourself.

Michael D.
Annual fishing trip, Summer 2024

Our church group had the most meaningful retreat here. The cabins are simple, the grounds are beautiful, and the silence — honest, real silence — is something we all missed more than we knew.
